For instance, this may occur when you provide your information to our service representatives (e.g., Veteran Coach and/or Administrative Personnel) or send us a letter, email, or text. Information We Collect and How We Use Them

We gather information from two general categories: (1) information that you provide to us and (2) information that we obtain from third parties.

Information You Give to Veterans Choice

  • Your name and contact details, including your email address and phone number.
  • Supplementary profile information, including your VA rating, rated disabilities, military branch, DD214, medical records, location, and preferred language
  • Your payment information, including your credit/debit card number, security/CVV code, and expiration date)

1) Registration

To assess how our services can assist you, we will ask for your name, contact information, and VA rating and indicate if you are seeking an “Initial Rating” or an “Increase Rating.” This information is essential for the proper functioning of specific services and for veteran coaches to connect with you.

2) Examine, Consolidate, and Documents Preparation

Reasons for collection

We require your Benefit Summary Letter, DD214, Ebenefits Screenshot, and medical records to consolidate those of the same category, separate files based on their size, and rename them prior to the referral to Independent Psychological Professionals.

3) Prepare the Service Agreement and Process the Payment

Reasons for collection

We use your name and contact details to fulfill our contract with you and to send our resources. Additionally, your payment information is used to process payments and ensure compliance with applicable law.

HIPPA Policy

Veterans Choice complies with all federal law requirements set forth by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

Veterans Choice, its staff, and affiliates are required to comply with national standards to safeguard sensitive patient health information from unauthorized disclosure.

Protecting clients’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI) is very important, so Veterans Choice’s Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) platforms follow HIPAA rules.

As required by rules and guidelines, Veterans Choice always gives employees ongoing training on the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the HIPAA Security Rule. This is to make sure that patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI) is safe and that electronically transmitted PHI is secure, private, and easy to access.
